Battlesteads Dark Sky Observatory is situated in the small Village of Wark on Tyne on the edge of the Kielder Water & Forest Park under the very dark skies of the Northumberland International Dark Sky Park. Wark is found on the B6320 Bellingham road, 12 miles north of Hexham on the River North Tyne.

Hexham, a historic Northumbrian abbey town on the south side of the River Tyne, is twenty miles west of Newcastle with excellent rail links to both Newcastle and Carlisle. Trains run every hour.

The bus service 680 (to Bellingham via Wark) runs from Hexham bus station and outside of the railway station - ask the driver to drop you off at Battlesteads and he will stop right outside our front door!
