Organic Wine
is made from grapes grown in accordance with principles of organic farming, which typically excludes the use of artificial chemical fertilizers, pesticides, fungicides and herbicides.
Biodynamic Wine
is made from grapes grown using the principles of biodynamic agriculture. The basic premise is to view the vineyard as part of a holistic system, in which the plants and soil make up only two components. Everything from insects, to other large animals living on the land, to the water, to the sun, to the stars and moon, are as integrally connected to the health of the vineyard and the grapes themselves. Advocates of biodynamic wine believe that such preparations help increase the health and vitality of the vineyard, ultimately improving the quality of the wine.
Sustainable Practices
refers to a range of practices that are not only ecologically sound, but also economically viable and socially responsible. Examples would be to focus on energy and water conservation, use of renewable resources or even fair treatment of employees.
